Segment  2

Segment Limits

Segment 2 is the second longest segment in the OTTR and is the second most populated.  It includes any of the main river channel from County Highway 1 Bridge upstream to the  Canadian Pacific Railroad Bridge and all associated canals within those limits.

To identify issues in Segment 2 and facilitate segment ownership, Segment 2 has been broken into 2 Sub-Segments.

Segment 2a

Main River Channel from County Highway 1 Bridge to confluence of canal #6 and the main river channel (~4200 LF)
Canal #1 (~ 465 LF)
Canal #2 (~ 967 LF)
Canal #3 (~ 482 LF)
Canal #4 (~ 1400 LF)
Canal #5 (~ 4500 LF)

Segment 2b

Main River Channel from the confluence of canal #6 and the Canadian Pacific Railroad Bridge (~ 4800 LF)
Canal #6 (~ 2500 LF)

Properties

There are 62 (911) addresses on Segment 2.  31 of which are on Sub-segment 2a and 31 are on Sub-Segment 2b.

Primary Issues

OTRM members have identified 4 primary issues in Segment 2.

1. With the exception of early spring, all terminal canals have extreme vegetation growth which does not allow for any watercraft navigation from riparian properties on said canals to the main river channel.

2. Canal #5 is a through canal, but is very shallow, has very little current and has an excess of vegetative growth.

3. Canal #6 is a through canal, mostly has an adequate depth but has an excess of vegetative growth.

4. The inlet to Canal #6 is very shallow from sedimentation buildup through the years.
